Spider-Man Continues Historic Box Office Run

Distributed by Sony Pictures, the Marvel-Sony tentpole Spider-Man: Brand New Day continues to fly high in its third weekend. Led by stars Tom Holland and Zendaya, the blockbuster experienced a modest 53% decline from the previous week, pushing its total domestic revenue toward an estimated $783 million (or roughly $782.8 million in first 17 days), placing it right behind Avatar on the all-time domestic chart.

The End of Oak Street Faces a Soft Start

Warner Bros. sci-fi thriller The End of Oak Street landed in second place on its opening day, grossing $8.1 million from 3,446 North American theaters, including Thursday previews. Directed by David Robert Mitchell, the film carries a hefty production budget exceeding $80 million and is projected to earn around $18.7 million to $20 million domestically by Sunday. Despite a soft financial start, the movie holds an 84% to 85% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes and a “B” CinemaScore grade, starring a prominent cast featuring Anne Hathaway, Ewan McGregor, Maisy Stella, Christian Convery, and Jordan Alexa Davis.

Family Adventures and Holdovers Round Out the Weekend

Meanwhile, Paramount Pictures introduced its family animated adventure PAW Patrol: The Dino Movie, which secured third place with $7.35 million on Friday from 3,545 cinemas. The film is tracking toward a $20 million opening weekend to match its predecessor, The Mighty Movie. Elsewhere, Christopher Nolan’s Greek epic The Odyssey continued its robust performance in fourth place with $6.5 million on Friday and an expected $23 million weekend, bringing its domestic haul to $504 million. Finally, the girl group documentary Katseye: Wild Hearts rounded out the top five with an estimated $2.2 million on Friday from 724 theaters.
