Apple continues its pre-launch preparations by releasing the fifth beta of iOS 27, introducing updated app icons, refined Liquid Glass visuals, and several user experience enhancements just over a month ahead of the official public launch.
Refreshed App Icons and Visual Tweaks
The latest software iteration brings updated Liquid Glass icons to several core applications, including Safari, Siri, Settings, Remote, App Store, and Preview. While developers entirely redesigned certain icons, others received increased detail. Additionally, the clearest Liquid Glass setting now appears noticeably clearer than in prior beta builds. Splash screens have also been added for the Photos, Wallet, and Music apps to highlight what is new.
Siri AI and Contact Enhancements
Apple expanded voice customizations for Siri AI, allowing users to adjust Pace and Expressivity across all seven American voices and four British voices. Because this customization occurs strictly on-device, the feature remains limited to the iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max, or iPhone Air. Furthermore, contacts now display associated company names directly beneath the contact name and within search results, streamlining access without requiring users to open individual contact cards.
Search, Connectivity, and System Adjustments
The search interface now matches the suggestion interface’s appearance timing and includes a new Search the Web option. Users gain greater control over search results, with toggles to disable app results or display either four or eight apps, alongside a toggle for app shortcuts. In the Control Center, cellular connection details no longer display while connected to Wi-Fi, and the iOS 27 Control Center in beta 4 5G+ is now active in Spain. Other additions include software update installation timestamps in Settings > General > About, a thicker font for Alarms and Timers in the Clock app, a toggle for Personalize Smart Replies in the Mail app, and battery drain diagnostics linked to poor cellular connections within the Battery settings.
