Autonomous logistics innovator Einride has announced a strategic partnership with heavy truck manufacturer DAF Trucks, a subsidiary of PACCAR Inc., to integrate its Level 4 autonomous driving system into DAF‘s premium electric truck platforms. The collaboration aims to tackle persistent industry challenges such as driver shortages and volatile fuel costs by combining advanced freight technology with established heavy-duty vehicle manufacturing.
Accelerating Autonomous Freight Solutions
The logistics sector has increasingly turned its attention toward autonomous and electric solutions to mitigate labor shortages and manage predictable vehicle charging costs. Through this new agreement, Einride will integrate its proprietary Einride Driver technology into DAF‘s robust vehicle lineup, which ranges from the 12-tonne XB Electric for urban distribution to long-haul models like the XG and XG+ Electric.
Jeroen van den Oetelaar, Chief Engineer and board member at DAF Trucks, emphasized that the collaboration highlights the company’s dedication to future-proofing the logistics industry. By merging top-tier truck engineering with cutting-edge autonomy, both companies seek to establish a more efficient, safe, and sustainable freight ecosystem across global markets.
Scaling Level 4 Technology Globally
As the first company to successfully deploy Level 4 autonomous trucks on public roads in Europe and private roads in Ohio, Einride continues to expand its commercial footprint. The partnership with DAF—which shares a parent company with iconic American brands like Kenworth and Peterbilt—provides the manufacturing scale necessary to deploy autonomous electric freight assets in substantial quantities.
Henrik Green, Chief Technology Officer at Einride, noted that leveraging DAF‘s decades of manufacturing excellence will expedite the global scale-up of their technology. Founded in 2016 and headquartered in Stockholm, Einride combines AI-powered freight intelligence with its vehicle-agnostic autonomy approach, moving closer to large-scale commercial deployments across North America, Europe, and the Middle East.
