A Devastating Double-Tap Strike on a Civilian Hub
Russian drones have struck a busy shopping centre in the central Ukrainian industrial city of Kryvyi Rih, killing at least 15 people and wounding more than 130 individuals. Oleksandr Vilkul, head of the Kryvyi Respective Defence Council, stated on Telegram that the daytime bombardments targeted the city’s largest shopping complex, instantly igniting a massive fire and sending thick black smoke billowing into the sky.
Regional governor Oleksandr Hanzha confirmed that 22 children were among the wounded, with several in critical condition. Across the region, 29 people were reported to be in serious condition following the catastrophic assault located roughly 60km from the active front line.
President Zelenskyy Condemns Cynical Tactics
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy fiercely condemned the attack on his home town, describing it as a calculated ‘double-tap’ strategy. According to officials, a second Russian drone slammed into the shopping centre 30 minutes after the initial blast in a deliberate attempt to slaughter incoming emergency response workers.
“Attacks like these are nothing less than terrorist acts,” Zelenskyy wrote on Telegram, calling for immediate international pressure against Moscow. “The world must respond to them accordingly – with real pressure on the aggressor. For peace to be possible, Russia must face real accountability.”
Escalating Aerial Warfare Across Ukraine
The tragedy in Kryvyi Rih was compounded by concurrent strikes across the country, including a separate Russian attack in the Mykolaiv region that claimed 4 lives, including 3 children, as reported by Interior Minister Ivan Vyhivskyi. Meanwhile, regional head Oleh Syniehubov confirmed that strikes in the Kharkiv region killed two elderly women.
According to the United Nations Human Rights Monitoring Mission, civilian casualties have surged to their highest monthly rates since the early phases of the conflict. Allied nations under the 34-member coalition are slated to convene to reinforce defense assistance as the relentless aerial campaign intensifies.
